The Ledger Nano X is a Bluetooth enabled hardware wallet that stores digital currency, allowing you to take your cryptocurrency offline. It combines state-of-the-art security with ease of functionality, enabling the use of the hardware wallet on-the-go. Ledger Live, the interface app, allows you to transact (send/receive) on your smart phone as easily as on a desktop. No more worrying about cables and adapters!
- High-end security: Its Bluetooth functionality is coupled with high-end security features to ensure that there are no risks to security and privacy. The Bluetooth connection is end-to-end encrypted. Further your private seed and the unique private keys stay on the secure chip (similar to the chip on your credit card). Only public keys (the codes you use to send and receive crypto assets) travel via Bluetooth. Even if the Bluetooth connection were to get hacked, the Secure Element of the Nano X will request consent prior to taking action. The Ledger Nano X uses a state of the art Bluetooth Protocol to ensure authentication by pairing, which is a numeric comparison AES-based encryption. There is always the option to disable the Bluetooth connection if you feel you’re not in a secure environment.
- Increased storage and supported coins: The Ledger Nano X has the capacity to store up to 100 applications at any given time (compared to the 4–5 apps of the Nano S)! What are these apps you ask? Each cryptocurrency has its own app which allows you to store the assets you own. Depending on which coins you own, you can download the relevant apps to the Ledger hardware wallet. More and more coins are supported by Ledger every day, and at the time of writing this article, over 1100 coins are supported.
- Intuitive controls: All Ledger hardware wallets use ‘Ledger Live’ (Read more about it here). It’s a one-stop user interface available on desktop as well as your smart phone. Ledger Live allows you to set up the device, make transactions and check balances in real time. The hardware wallet itself is compact, foldable and easy to carry around in your pocket.
